**THE LESSON PLAN FOR THIS COURSE HAS EXPIRED**
The purpose of Legal Update 2019-2020 is to update the student about changes in laws and procedures that relate to law enforcement.. The course format will include case study by videotaped scenarios and lecture.
Cases/Topics discussed in this course include:
Toxicology samples taken outside the three-hour window in S.C. CODE §56-5-2950 should be excluded as evidence, Analysis utilized by the court in determining whether the facts presented in BROOKS V. JOHNSON could constitute a violation of the eighth amendment due to excessive use of force, When an officer can/cannot lawfully identify individuals in a vehicle, ARIZONA V. GANT, How to properly admit an exhibit into evidence at trial, Misconduct – criminal convictions of LE,  “Raise the Age” law going into effect July 1, 2019, and Legislative Update. This course is good for 1 hour of recertification credit.   *This lesson plan expires in 7/2021 at which time this course will close.**
